spray bar on Eheim

Does the spray bar need to be above the water line? I know you get more aeration that way. I would also like to extend the bar to go across the entire water column. Has anyone extended their spray bar??

No, it doesn't need to be above the water line. You can point it upwards to create more agitation from below the water, though.

I don't know about the eheims. I know on the Rena's you can extend the spray bar, but never used an eheim.

In the DC Metro Area? Check out GWAPA and WAMAS

You can extend the spray bar, all you need is a piece of pvc thats the same size, drill holes in it every 1/2" or so, and cut a short piece of your return tubing to slide between the current spray bar and the new one.

I keep my spray bars right at the surface. I dont like them above because it causes too much evap in my house, but right at the top keeps the water moving
