I'm not sure what guage wire I used. I bought 2 3-prong (grounded) extension cords with 3 female outlets on the other end, cut them in 1/2 and used that. I think the extension cords were about $5 each from HD.

Since you guys are talking about stealth heaters....this may be the dumbest question ever, but are they submersible? I bought a used tank and it came with a stealth heater but I don't know if I can put right under or not. Thanks a bunch.

Yes, stealth heaters are fully submersible. Here's the link.
