sumps?

what is a sump? i plan on using an eheim canister filter i will evetually add live rock to the tank but not right away anyway i guess a "sump" has to do with some kind of filtration- can someone elaborate on this please?

A seperate tank or tub that you can use for added water volume. It also can house your heater, skimmer, and any other equipment that you do not want to hang in or on your tank. You can also add a section for ls,lr, and algae to use as a fuge/pod farm. The pods will come on the live rock and migrate into the fuge/sump and breed to feed your fish live food.
