Switching filters

Hello. I have a question about switching filters and haven't found the answer here yet. I actually just put a fresh cartridge in my tank 5 days ago. Then, when I went to the store to buy more replacement cartridges, I came home with a new filter instead. It's the Fluval C2. I plan to put it on my tank in about 3 weeks. So my question is: Should I put some of the Fluval media and nodes in my tank somehow to start building up the bacteria and how do you suggest I do that?

I did see advice to run 2 filters for a month when you are switching, but I really don't want to do -- mainly because of too much water flow for live plants and gouramis.

if you're worried about too much flow with both filters just set them both to their lowest flow settings
