Tank Decor - Chest?

I'm looking to put a treasure chest in my tank (cheesy I know) But I don't want one of those store bought plastic boxes with the fake jewels hanging out. Is there a way I could build (or buy) a wooden box and make it fish tank safe? Also is there any gold paint safe for fish tanks? Thanks for all the help!

Nothing wrong with cheesy! I suggest an air line in there as well (possible a fake skeleton...)

Unfortunately nothing known on any paint.
