tds question

Hope to get some feedback on this. I started making my own ro water last night with my new BRS ro/di system. The water coming out reads 0 tds from the built in tds meter on the unit. When I test a small sample with my tds meter it reads 1. Not a problem. But, when I test the 10 gallons I made that is in my trash can, it reads 5. What gives. Which one is more accurate?

Did you flush the system before using it?

Yes, I let it run for about an hour and a half before making water
