Thermometer

if you have a digital thermometer, where is the best place to put the probe to get the most accurate reading, or does it not really matter,

I have mine in the in-flow from my filter, maybe not the best of places but I feel it gives the best shot at a overall reading.. course my tanks 125g and the intake is at the far end so it has a ways to go and is probably a bit lower than the over all tank temp.
