Timer for a air pump

So i recently purchased two bubble bars to fill up some dead space in my 55 gallon tank. And i want to know is it possible or even a good idea to put the air pump on a timer? I have check valves on both lines. So any feed back would be nice. Figuring that if i have it set the same cycle that my lights are so the fish dont have as much bubbles when its night time. Its not a mater of noise.

I don't think the fish would mind it, it is giving oxygen for them and bubbles don't take up much space. But it does add to water movement especially on top

Sounds like a good Idea as long as the check valves work properly.
