Timer plug with a surge protector/extension lead?

Hi

I wonder if anyone could tell me if this would a) work and b) be safe. i want to plug my light into a timer plug as i can't always be here to turn on/off at the correct times. The thing is, the light is currently plugged into a surge protector and so the timer would need to be plugged into the surge protector. i don't know anything much at all about this stuff so i hoped someone else did!

The surge protector just protects anything plugged into it. The timer interrupts the power and turns stuff on and off. No problems or negative interraction between the two at all. You're safe.

+1 I've run several timers off of surge protectors with no problems.

If you have a stronger light, it might be grounded, and those timers are a little rarer. I think mine was like 10$ or so... while other 2 prong timers are like a few dollars.. Just something you should pay attention to when buying.
