I have an established 30g SW tank. The substrate is full of darker shells and rocks and it is kind of unsightly. I was going to add some more sand to cover the rocks but unsure of the best method to add the sand. Any suggestions?

I would probably just put the new sand in a plastic cup and then slowly bring the plastic cup down to the bottom and then pour it out. Or you can get a pvc pipe and put it towards the bottom of the tank and then use a funnel and pour the sand into the pipe. Turn your powerheads and return off while you are doing it.

If there are large particles on the sand bed now you should remove those (if you don't like them) they will work their way back up through the new sand.

The plastic cup method is how I top off my sand bed. I have to do it every 6 months or so.
