oggieoggieoggie hears surf in the shell
trigon 190 filtration

Hello all
After having a thermostat failure in my 18 month old community tank
I've decided to go for a cichilid tank. My question is before I start to cut up my new 3d background should I remove my standard internal filter box and filter and replace it with an external filter ( EX700 ) to accommodate messie cichilids or will the existing internal system be fine. That said the more room for rock/cave building the better I suppose. Is the EX700 a canister filter ?
Tank is currently showing good test readings after a 4 week fishless cycle.

All advice greatly recieved. TVM
