I've been searching craigslist for a 75+ gallon tank for freshwater. I've come across quite a few acrylic tanks and was wondering how you guys feel about these versus glass tanks. I would prefer a glass tank as they seem like they would be more clear and scratch resistant. But willing to try acrylic if it is feasable. I'd like to see pictures of your acrylic tanks if you've got any. Thanks.

Hi Rinzy. I probably will have the minority opinion. But I purchased a 50 gallon acrylic because I was one I could handle by myself--because the weight. Likewise I could put it on a library table because it was lighter than glass. I have not found that it scatches easily--I just use a cleaning magnet. I also have 2 other smaller glass tanks and have not noticed a difference except in using different products. The only photo I have is the one in my profile.

I have a small acrylic tank and the only time it has scratched was when I put a piece of plexiglass in that was too big. Other than that, I haven't noticed a single scratch or difference from my glass tanks.
