US uk gallons

Ok so I'm getting confused.. What the difference between a US AND UK gallon and what is the general one u all use?

One UK/Imperial gallon is equivalent to 1.201 US gallons. Most references to gallons are in US gallons. Hope this helps!

or 1 us gallon is 3.8 lt and a uk is 4.5 lt

I rarely, if ever, see a reference to a UK gallon. When I see liters or US gallons, I use this for conversion:
