Well... I've been pondering the idea of adding a UV filter to my 75g heavily stocked mixed African Cichlid tank. I've read both good and bad. I don't run a canister, I had one and didn't like it, actually hated it (fx5) now I just run AC110's.

So... Would a UV filter REALLY make that much of a difference in water quality?

Also wouldn't it kill some BB?

Do they have a HOB one? Or what would be the best option to go with (if I went this route)

Or... Are they all hype and no bite?

I have a saltwater tank and never used a UV and people tell me I should be BUT I do my weekly's and never had an issue.

Thanks

I have one on my canister for my 75gl. I do use it every once in awhile. Maybe a few hrs a month total. I feel like it works but I really have no clue. I basically use it since I have the option. Interested to see if anyone else has any input on this.
