I have a 40 gallon breeder in the bay window of my kitchen. It only gets early morning sun, for about 1 hour. I know it shouldn't be there but I'm in the middle of a remodel and have no other choice right now. I'm constantly cleaning the beginning forms of algea off the sides with my mag-float.
Would installing a UV sterilizer help with the algea? I really don't want to start adding chemicals. I have a pleco in there and he seems happy but I also have about 100 convict fry that I don't want to hurt.
For filters I have an Aqua Clear 20 and a Whisper 70 on each end so it's definetly over filtered. will upgrade to a canister when the money allows.
