Hi all, what do you think of UV Sterilizers ? Are they recommended in saltwater ? I do not really hear much talk about them.

I like them. Most people think they kill plankton and other things in a reef tank. I have viewed tanks that run them and tanks that do not. There was really no difference in the sandbed fauna on either tank or the growth of other liverock critters. The tanks that ran UV'S had much clearer water though. On my current 240gallon tank that is in the works i will run a UV. For a smaller tank the Coralife turbo twist UV'S work great!

UV sterilizer kills pathogens, parasites. It keeps your fish and corals healthy.
So, it doesn't matter what you have in the tank. I got a Turbo Twister 3X UV sterilizer. Works great.

Definately, get the biggest you can afford. I would tell you to look at the coralife UV'S on my site but it is down for maintenance.
