vho bulbs

How often should the bulbs be changed? Live Aquaria says they should last 18 months...but does this mean ALL VHO bulbs. I ask because I have no phosphates 5 on nitrates (think I need to adjust my nitrate filter) good flow and yet i have algae. I have a patch of cyano and some hair algae. Is there any way to tell if the bulbs need changing before their time???

Yes this does, thank you. My husband just read something to the same effect but they broke it down in hours...I had my lights on 14hr's a day and the lights have been expended. Well now I know what the deal is, time to replace the bulbs, remove any algae and hopefully watch it go back to a algae free tank : ). Heres hoping anyways .
