how many watts of a heater do i need for a 30 gallon that i will be seting up this month

I think the general rule of thumb for picking out heaters is 5 watts per gallon. With a 30 gal tank I think a 150 watt heater should work.

i think 3 watts/gallon is sufficient. were trying to keep them warm not cook them. 8O so 30x3=90 round up to the next standard heater size. 100 watt heater will work fine.

I have a 150 in my 30, with any equipment I try to err on the side of too much for the sake of my fish, plus my apartment gets cold sometimes.
