what heater for a 30 gal

how many watts of a heater do i need for a 30 gallon that i will be seting up this month

I think the general rule of thumb for picking out heaters is 5 watts per gallon. With a 30 gal tank I think a 150 watt heater should work.

I have a 100 watt running in my 30 gallon. Everything's going fine.

30 gallon tall Eclipse II: 4 Praecox Rainbow Fish, 2 Australian Rainbowfish, 3 zebra snails, 2 Clown Loaches, 2 Congo Tetra, 2 Boesemani Rainbowfish, 1 Red Irian Rainbowfish, 1 Bronze Corydora, 1 Golden Panchax Killifish, 1 Aplocheilus lineolatus Killifish, 1 Common Pleco (~5 in.), 1 candystripe Pleco (~1 1/2 in.)

i think 3 watts/gallon is sufficient. were trying to keep them warm not cook them. 8O so 30x3=90 round up to the next standard heater size. 100 watt heater will work fine.

30g: 1 miss. map turtle, 5 blue spotted sunfish
10g: 7 cardinal tetras, 7 black neon tetras, 5 pygmy cories
10g: 3 leopard geckos
a yellow lab, a bichon frise, and a grey tabby cat

Ebo-Jager 150W would be good, but 100W works fine too.

I have a 150 in my 30, with any equipment I try to err on the side of too much for the sake of my fish, plus my apartment gets cold sometimes.
