What is a good PH?

I was just wondering what a good PH is, I have never actually bothered testing and tank has been fine. I would just like to know what an ideal PH would be and what is it for?

8.1-8.4. If you do not test for it, I would suggest you do

Absolutely test for it. I keep mine between 8.1 and 8.2.

lol... did you test for it, or are you estimating? If you tested... that would be on the higher side, but it is still good.

Nah I tested for it had to wash an extra testube out thats 5 seconds out of my life! 8O How do you suggest I get it back down? All other peramiters are in check.

Actually the ocean is about 7.8 to 8.4. So your numbers are fine, you do not need to lower it. 8.3-8.4 is what reef aquarists aim for. 8.1 is considered a bit low in some tanks... HTH
