What is MM LED?

I have heard it brought up during conversation all the time but have no idea of what it is other than a LED fixture. can someone post a link so that I can read up on them?

I have never heard of the reference "mm led".

just found out that my local reef club use MM in terms of "members modified" LED. they even use the term "black box", which I have yet to wrap my head around
