What is Needed to Clean Plastic Tubing Pieces on HOB's?

When I dissasemble my two HOB's for cleaning (an Aqueon QuietFlow 55 and AquaClear 110), it's evident that a good deal of diatom and other gunk buildup is getting trapped in those crevices in the tube turns that a regular toothbrush or other device simply can't reach in order to clean it out -- what can I use in this situation? Do "pipe cleaners" work? Can anyone suggest a good tool for cleaning the intake tubes of the filters?

Do you know where these are readily found? Are they more effective than so-called "pipe cleaners" or "brushes"?

Try looking in the household items of walmart. Make sure you get one with a flexing handle.
