My current in sump skimmer has just cracked and needs to be replaced.

I really can't afford to spend over $150.

Are there any for that price that can be piped in to the sump? I would like to have one that sits outside of the sump oppose to the current in sump.

I'm considering building my own but have not looked into it yet.

Anyone have any suggestions on a type of skimmer? It would need to handle 180G...

I don't think you are going to find anything worthwile for a 180 for under $150.

The Octopus line seems to get very good reviews and they have both in sump and outside models.

I have an MTC HSA-250, bujt that costs over $300

I agree. You won't find a new skimmer that works well for that price. Best bet is look for a used 1.

Thanks for the replies, I'm currently searching craigslist and eBay for a decent used skimmer. I wish I had the cash, just hadn't planned on my current skimmer breaking!

Thanks,

Tom
