When do i need to turn the light off?

Do I need to turn the tank light off at night or do I just keep it on all the time?

It may not cause sickness directly, but lack of a dark period could create stress, which may lead to possible sickness.......

Use moonlights if you want some sort of light in the tank 24/7, but yes, you should not leave the daylights on indefinitely.

Agree with ALL the above, plus the cost of running them and changing the bulbs if you have fluorescents....

most average around 8 hrs for lights
and like mr x said if you must have lights at night use moon lights
but I feel everything needs a few hrs of total darkness
