SCWD and pump sizing...
Hi Darin,
Here's my situation... I have a 180 gallon tank. There is only one overflow in the corner (1 inch hose to the sump) I need to purchase a new return pump -- the largest size possible. Will a Mag12 be suitable (i'll have a ball valve on the return just in case I need to throttle it down a tad). Then, I will need to add a closed loop for extra circulation. I plan on using a SCWD to alternate the current. I take it a Mag18 would be the largest pump I could use with this. The 2 pumps combined would equal 3000 [acronym:4bddf097c2="Gallons per hour"]gph[/acronym:4bddf097c2] minus head room and any dialing down of the retun pump. The tank is 6 foot long (worried about dead spots in the water). Could I then split the water return lines ([acronym:4bddf097c2="Plastic pipe"]PVC[/acronym:4bddf097c2] tees) to get a more even circulation pattern throughpout the tank. thanks again nick

Everything sounds fine. The SCWD manufacturer only recomends a mag 12 but i have friendds up here that use the mag 18 on them with no trouble. Just make sure the SCWD pump is prefiltered.

Will make sure to do that.
I see that you carry the prefilters for the mag pumps. Do you carry anything for externally plumbed pumps? cheers nick
