Is there a specific color/temperature for plants? Right now I keep a 5000k and 6500k tube on top of my planted tank.

from the bit I do know people seem to run a 6500k and a 10,000k but i also hear other scrapping the 10k for a second 6500k

6500k is right were you want to be. I'd save up for the planted+ it will pay for its self in a year or two. As you don't need to buy bulbs, and its cheaper to run.

I honestly don't know why you'd want to run a 10k they are very blue. Someone care to tell me why?

It's mostly for aesthetics but one of the bulbs on my planted tank is a10000k daylight and all of my plants are growing great. 2 6500k bulbs would give a very pink hue.
