Betta's new home (and old ones' demise!)
Well, II come home from a night out, and i sit down in my computer chair... and ... What the!?!? Theres a puddle on the floor. I'm sure its ALL of our worst nightmares!
I throw on the lights, and look all around... All the tanks are in good order. Weird! Then i look at my desk. Its Drenched! the design on it has all bubbled up, and its still VERY wet. I follow the path of damage (about 2 feet long) to my Betta bowl! SOMEHOW, Crystal bowl, managed to crack! (first picture) Sooo... Here goes the tale of how my betta got its second home (unless you count the cup i found him nearly dying in!) He's been in here for a total of... ohh... 1.5 hours :P but he's already much more active and inquisitive than he was in his bowl! Its a 2.5 gallon "aquarium" and i'll do 25% water changes every week.

I moved his driftwood a bit, and put in a 7.5 watt pad heater from hydor. I had it lying around... His previous bowl was too small for it.
Its keeping it at a very reasonable 75 degrees F, about 5 degrees warmer than ambient. As well, i grabbed the "floaters" from my other tanks (the small plants that fall off/dug up by fish and surface) and popped them into the substrate. We'll see if they actually grow. I added about... 1.2 ml of Excel flourish, which in proprotion to a my 44 gallon, is a bit much for the tank. I figured it'd help give the plants (and bamboo) a fighting chance with no nitrates in the water! Oh, the next time i picked up the bowl... THe whole bottom of it broke off and shattered on the floor. I'm SO lucky it didn't do that in my room when it was FULL.
