About a year ago I lost all of my predators in a week long power outage (my main fish were over 5 years old). Since I had to start over I decided to do a community tank this time around. Most of my new fish are 6-9 months old (Severums are 2 months). Below are the specs for my community tank.

125g.. 72x18x22
Fluval FX5 (Seachem Matrix Bio media and Bio rings)
Aquatop CF-500UV.. Died last night..
Vortex Diatom Filter (only used occasionally)
Fake plants
T8 Shop Light
52LED Moon Lights

Fish
4x Green Severums
9x Clown Loaches
9x Australian Rainbowfish
2x Synodontis decorus
1x Synodonits hybrid
2x Rubber lip pleco
1x Hoplo catfish
1x Golden dojo loach
1x Pictus catfish

And now for the whole reason behind the thread.. the pics (y)

Fixed the Aquatop filter tonight. We'll see how long it lasts.

We just bought 4 clown loach and all 4 have ick now after 4 days of being in our established tank.

This is the second time we have got ick and each time it is related to having a clown loach. We would love to have big ones like yours but them getting ick doesn't encourage us to keep on trying!

Is this a common thing with clown loaches moving to a new environment?

Clown loaches do get ick easier than other fish. Either the ick hitched a ride from the petstore or it was dormant in your tank. Clown loaches are awesome, I would not let ick deter me from keeping them.

Beautiful tank, Love the fish. I always wanted to get a group of clown loaches but don't have a tank big enough for them :( I plan on doing a 150 fresh after I get my degree so 3 more years ish :banghead:

It might be a good idea to look into setting up a quarantine tank. Thankfully, freshwater ich is simple to treat if you have a decent heater and thermometer.

Ya, we have been thinking about that. Might start that up soon.

Any idea if a fire eel would get the same sickness as fish do??

Thanks. It's a little bare compared to most tanks but I prefer the look of an open tank, plus it gives more open water for the fish.

Fire eels can get most diseases and parasites as well. They are pretty picky about water quality.
