Here are pics of my 5 gal tank. It has been up for about a week or so. I plan to do some adjusting and will add a small piece of mopani wood with java moss later this week. It is home to a Betta named Sapphire and 5 ghost shrimp.

I like your tank was!! was it easy to plant?

Thank you! Yes, it was easier than I thought it would be. It took about an hour to adjust the substrate and plant everything. For the rock wall, I got shale rocks from the beach and broke them with a hammer.

That is amazing. You should enter it in a planted tank competition as the plants grow.

Looks great! Thanks for sharing. And that is a totally gorgeous betta. :)

Thank you, and yes he is gorgeous! The pic does him no justice at all, he has the slightest red details and he shimmers under the moonlights. I'm just using a cell phone, I hope to borrow a better camera to get some quality pics of him.

I love your tank! It's inspired me to redo my 5 gal betta tank. I have a couple of live plants and some shale rock but nothing as beautiful as yours!!

I did some addtions and rearranging yesterday, so the water is still a bit cloudy. I hope to get some more up in a couple if days.

Thank you! I'm finally gonna get around to posting more pics when I get home later. So far, my wisteria, anubias, and crypto are doing great. Java fern looked kinda iffy when I got it from the lfs and it hasn't changed much. Maybe I tied it to the rock to tightly, ill keep watching it. The sword is looking so-so. I'm going to add more root tabs and see if it improves. I know it'll eventually get way too big for the tank, so I'll replace it down the road. The spiralis lost most of its leaves, but I hope it comes back. The banana plant is on its last legs however. I hope I just bought a bad one. I like the look of it, I may try another. I haven't really been dosing that much. The lfs sold me a bottle of fert for $1, but then I found it expired 5 yrs ago so I didn't really use it lol. Just picked up some Leaf Zone today. I don't really want to do mods on the tank, so I'm just seeing what works and what doesn't. I read in another thread that someone was growing four leaf clovers successfully in this tank, I'd love to give those a try next. Oh yeah, diatoms are in full effect!!

I forgot to mention my tiger lilly. It is also doing quite well, it's my fave plant in the tank. I added a small piece of wood with java moss tied to it. I also added some slate rocks covered in moss with hopes that it will carpet eventually.

Part of me really, really wants to try a planted tank because they look so nice. But (at least on land) I have black thumbs and I'm afraid I'd just spend a lot of time and money and just end up with a bunch of dead plants! Wish I was like my Grandma, she could make anything, and I mean anything, grow.
