I made a post on here recently about transitioning a freshwater tank into a saltwater tank without tearing the whole thing down, I was curious if the transition was slow enough the tank would keep its cycle. The fish I used to test this was a green spotted puffer that was already in my cycled freshwater tank. Over several months I upped the salinity and added things along with it. Throughout the whole thing the tank kept its cycle and now I'm slowly turning it into a reef tank, here were done pictures of the tank
