I'm building a bar in my basement and will be incorporating a 210 gallon reef tank in the bar back. There will be a 55 gallon sum tank and a 40 gallon refug tank as well. I'm looking for equipment right now. I will be installing a 6 stage ro/di in the unfinished portion of my basement along with 2 65 gallon storage tanks--one for ro/di water to feed the auto top off system and the 2nd storage tank for mixing salt water. I will also be purchasing a DIY LED kit from rapidled.com. I still need to decide on a protein skimmer, heaters, and power heads. I will also purchase the Neptune APEX controller.

I have a couple of pictures attacked. The tank will be centered on the wall behind the wall when I build the bar back. Stay tuned!

Stand for the tank... I'm going to reinforce it a bit and add plywood on the top. I'm also going to cut out the wall studs behind and put the tank right against the concrete....maybe with a piece of foam board insulation in between. This stand will be hidden behind the bar back when I build it.. I also bought a 60 gallon air compressor and plumbed it to the basement. You never know when you might need compressed air! Other progress: I started running the 3 inch PVC pipe for the beer lines cooler. I'm going to have a chest freezer kegerator in the unfinished portion of the basement. The bar ceiling lighting is complete as well.. 4 can lights and 3 pendent lights. Stay tuned!

I've been concentrating on the lighting in the rest of the basement in preparation for drywall which I hope to do at the end of the month. Then it's time to pour concrete for the bar top. After that's done I will start building the new aquarium stand and bar back. Stay tuned!

I hate some people, I have always wanted a bar in a basement, and wanted a tank that size, now you go and do them both at the same time, dam you hahaha
It looks amazing mate and will be keeping an eye out for updates so I can get ideas for when I win the lotto and do this my self lol good luck with it all mate and I hope it all goes well and fast.

Top support frame for the display tank almost complete. I used 2.5x9.5 LVL beams supported by trust hangers. I also drove 6" lag bolts into each cross-member. Pretty sure it could support a house!

And I thought I was building my 220 stand way overfill haha

I wouldn't use a 55 gallon as a sump. You will be severely limited with what skimmer you can use. If anything, make it opposite- use the 55 gallon as your refugium, and use a 40 breeder style tank to hold the skimmer.
I would use a Sea Side Aquatics AS31, or an Octopus Extreme XS350.

Stand almost finished..... Still have to do lots of bracing at the bottom.
