My only worry is if a new ballast is going to cost me $200 lol

Nice, I'm not sure what that is (looks like a Coralife?) but I know you can pick up ballasts for oceanics on eBay for $50 all day. Does it use two separate? Anyways nice steal

It's actually a oceanic bio cube ...I am looking for a replacement canopy...one of the (light fixtures?) where the bulb plugs into is going bad and I can't seem to find any place that sells just the fixture only the ballasts

That's a tough one. I have seen canopies for sale on eBay as well but not too often. May consider HDI upgrade? Or just get a T5 or an led lightbar perhaps?

You could upgrade lighting to led,

I am using rapid led lights on my reef and couldn't be happier. It's a bit of work but not bad if you are ok with solder, they also have a solder less for a bit more money.

Thanks for the info on the retro kit...that might be the way I go once the old set up is on it's way out
