Decided to post my 40 gallon Breeder build to keep my tanks progress.

I made the door completely removable for easy access to my sump. Today I drilled 3 holes 1 drain and 2 returns. Feel free to criticize my work.

I'm in the process building the same setup. I like your idea of the front access panel instead of cabinet doors. Can you show me detailed pics of how you constructed the panel to attach to the stand?

I just made a square out of 1 X 2 and I drilled some pocket holes to attach the frame of the door together. Then I took a sheet of plywood and nailed it to the square frame to complete the door. Once I built the door I bought 4 magnet latches and placed one in each corner.

Is my setup too new to grow chaeto? I've got the 6500k spiral bulb from Walmart and no luck.

I'm in the same boat. My bulb is 5k in a 6" grow lamp. I started at about 5" above the water and worked my way back when the cheato got too stringy. Just threw out what I had last night because when rotated it broke apart and became a mess. From what I've read, I think our tanks lack the nutrients right now.

Thanks. I'll hold off a couple months before I buy some more chaeto.

I'm trying to avoid cutting the drain from my frag tank. I was thinking of running my mag 9 from my DT sump to move the water into my Frag Tank sump. The water will flow through all the chambers and I'll have another mag 9 that will return the water through all 3 returns in the last chamber that will be inside my frag tank sump. The water from my DT will run through the whole system but my frag tank will still drain into its own sump.

I've been searching online and have read the only way to achieve what I'm trying to do is by drilling both sumps. Has anyone done this without drilling and adding bulkheads to the 2 sumps?

Both of my return pumps are the same brand and GPH.

Nice tank and VERY professional stand!!
Nice build!!
I was going to say be very careful if you think about synching up pumps(always leads to trouble if used 24/7 IMO).

My first thought was to attatch the sumps( I have sumps with 3 vessels run in series with 2 1/2 " pvc syphons) some how and then have a pump(can be small) go from one to the other and then the system will balance it self and thus mix.
Power failures and basic head issues will make almost any other option a possible headache?

I have a Neptune Controller I want both systems to run on. The reason I don't want to have both drains going into one sump is incase of a power failure. The sump might over flow. One sump is slightly higher than the other so a syphon might work but I'm thinking running the two pumps would be a safer option?
