Well I finally had the time to drill the tank and run the plumbing.

The drain bulk heads are 1" and the lines a 1.5" with street fitting's. I set it up with 1 primary drain and secondary drain and the 3rd is a emergency drain. The return pump is a Iwaki MD40RLXT. Hear are a few pics of the work in progress and duting the water test.

It went pretty smooth when I turned on the pump it only took about 3 seconds to create a full prime. I unpluged the pump a couple of times see how it would handle a power outage. It worked flawless and is completley silent.

I will drain it in a day or two and start to set up the rock and 30g fuge.

The start

Very nice and clean looking!

Thanks I am happy. I was hoping not to have to use any powerhead's with the 1200 gph pump.. I put a light on it last nite and the pvc shaving's that were in the lines worked there way into the tank and there were no dead spots in the water flow. I hope it stays that way once the rock is in.

Not at all. That looks absolutely perfect. I love those rocks too and i love what you did with them. Great job.

Thanks... I like the 3rd drain also. 3 days after I put my wood floor down I had a flood and I dont want to experience that again lol

Err, i may not be looking at the correct thing.. or maybe im just seeing things.. but on the picture of the overflow running with water in there.. The water looks like its just pouring over the side of the overflow. If it is.. that's going to suck your fish in.. lol. I would suggest putting grates on it to protect your fish from being sucked into the overflow section. Like on the overflow boxes they have slits in them that stay above the water level.. this way nothing gets sucked into the overflow area. I would suggest doing the same.

I checked the amount of flow at the box and it seems like very little being the box is 36" long. I hope that is not an issuse. When I start my cycle I will pay close attention to it and build a new one if needed. Thanks for the input.

No problem. Although you probably wouldn't have to build a whole new one. You could just get a piece of plexi-glass, cut slits into it, silicone or epxoy it above the water level and you're done. But yeah, first see if it really does cause any problems. Hope it doesn't! :)

If it were me, I'd keep the rocks off the side enuf that you can clean the glass there. It can get ugly after a while.

Point taken...A little remodel Zero you stll like. I do it give me a little more direct area's for frags and such.

That's looking fabulous. That is going to look amazing once there's sand and water in there. You're definitely right about the coral part, i see some awesome spots all over the rockwork that would look great with corals on them. Nice job super-duty, i must say, i like what you did with it.

Thanks! I think next week I will put the baffels in the sump and get it filled up next weekend.
