Hard to believe that eight months ago this was pure white base rock. Now it is covered in plating Coraline .A few pictures of corals that were frags.

its not really that hard to believe, coralline algae grows fast, specially when its a reef and water chemistry is kept in check

Looks great, how long between frag and now? Any before and after pics?

Beautiful. I hope mine grow that fast.

Thanks, to me the keys are maintain cal, alk, and mag levels and 15% water change every two weeks with reef crystals.
Works for me.

I've been doing a 10% every 2 weeks with my RO/DI unit and reef crystals. I have no clue what my alk is...can't find an api test for it. My cal and mag levels are fine though. My duncan is budding a new head and that has been my only sign of growth so far.

Get a Salifert KH/ALK Profi Test kit.You really need to test it.I have to add alk every other day to maintain my level between 7 and 8 even with doing every other week partial water changes.

Very nice corals. Awesome. How long have you had the tank? Filtration? How do you dose? And what do you dose?

Thank you.
Started this tank back in middle of March after moving to Va from NC.75 gallon with 20 gallon long sump.I have 165 lbs of rock, and a 4 to 5 inch sandbed my sump consists of home made container that contains filter floss and two media bags of activated carbon. It sits on a stand 2 inches above the sump water level and the water drops through the filter media through holes in the bottom of the container to the sump. Also have Marineland 300 protein skimmer and a uv sterilizer in the sump.No Refug.

Presently I only have to dose 2 tbs of alk every other day mixed with my Ro/Di top off water that I add to the sump. My cal and mag stays ok between the partial water changes.I am heavy on corals plus my clam.
This is a picture with MH's on from today.

Sweet. So the protein skimmer you have you like? I'm looking for a good hob skimmer for my 65 gallon.

Mine works great, but it is a in sump only.I'll defer to others on the forum who can advise you better on the HOB one's.

Beautiful! My frags are only 3 weeks old. I can't wait until they grow like that. Yet another lesson in patience...:)
