Finally my 40 breeder is set up !!

Finally got rid of my 38 (find it- New tank questions?) and set up my 40 breeder. Just the change in footprint is a nice change, for once I don't have to place everything against the back wall !! I got rid of the 96w PC and 42w T5, and got a Lumenbright 250w MH. I'm running a 14k bulb, and I'm very pleased with not only the light output, but the overall color or my tank. While I was at it, I changed out my CC substrate for aragonite sand. My ph is now around 8.4, while with the CC is was never above 8.0.

Sweet I like your torch, I just bought one today. they look great under actinics. be ready to scrape algae of your tank while it adjusts to the extra watts produced from the MH. dont worry it will balance it self out soon. Great tank.

Whait1 I just noticed that you dont have a skimmer or any major filtration. Are you going to have a fish less reef?

Well I have a cpr bak pak skimmer that I had set up on my 38. I've had it set up, but I haven't put it back on. I was kinda seeing how my 'trates were doing, and so far (a week now) they are still at 0ppm. I'll eventually get around to putting t back on.

The only filtration I have is my LR. When my skimmer was on, it had biobale (similar to bioballs, but stringy and was in the skimmer output section) that was supposed to help. I think i'm going to use that spot to hide my heater now.

Yesterday I added a frogspawn coral too. These MHs are nice !!

I just switched from a 96w PC and a 42w T5 to a 250w MH 14k bulb. Looks amazing !! Corals didn't like it to much, but they'll get used to it.
