This is my first go at aquaria. I have been very interested for quite a long time and have done a fair amount of research. I decided that it was finally time. I found a good deal on an established tank included several fish from my wish list. It was in need of some love (and cleaning). I got it home and set up, so here we go. I began the improvements; new sump, protein skimmer, more and better lighting, more water flow, bolstered the clean up crew and now some new inhabitants.
Here are the stats-
75 gallon DT with 25 gallon sump
Reef Octopus 8 skimmer (250 gal)
Chaetomorpha
Mangroves
75 lbs live rock
Bright red Actinodiscus Mushrooms
Button polyps
Purple Firefish
Yellow Tang
Yellowtail Damsel
Purple striped Dottyback
Percula Clownfish
Haitian purple tip anemone (condy)
Banded coral shrimp
Peppermint shrimp
2 hermit crabs
2 emerald crabs
Lots of Snails

I'm sorry to be a downer, but I think tangs need like, 100 gallon tanks.

It looks really good though. Colorful!

I agree that she would be happier in a larger tank. She came with it. I bought a 125 but it's in the basement. I'm still building the stand. It will be a few more months yet.

Okay. Good to know you have a plan. It's funny, I'm a freshie, but I've read enough on here to be of help to the salties!

Nice tank!

Tangs do need longer tanks (5+ ft) but you could get away with having a smaller one (1 to 3 inches) for now and upgrading it to a bigger tank later. Just MO. Yours does look bigger than 3 inches though.

Tank looks good! I think the tang will be fine since you already plan to upgrade. Good job!

How are those mangroves doing? I have seen several tanks who have them but read that they really don't help too much because they are slow growers and just don't take enough nutrients out to help. And do you have them in your sump before or after the skimmer?

I don't know if they really help or not I figure that they can't hurt. They are after the skimmer. In with the cheato. They seem to be doing well. They are under a 100 watt equivilant spiral flourescent. They didn't appreciate the move to the new sump. They shed a few leaves but have all been replaced with new ones.

Looks really nice! looks like you got some nice pieces of LR with it. What else are you planning on adding?? Have you noticed any aggression with the dottyback or damsel?

The damsel is quite peaceful. The dottyback, not so much. She picks at everybody else including the coral banded shrimp that is 3 times her size. I also blame her for the mysterious disappearance of most of my peppermint shrimp.
As far as future additions, I plan on adding some corals next.

A few pics of my little friends.
