Started my first saltwater tank last month. Now I'm up to a 55 gallon tank for a little over a week.

Cycled for a week

Did you have media or do a fish in? Because a week is to quick to build up enough bacteria.

Whats your stock?

Well ive had the rock in another tank for 2 weeks... About 10 days ago I threw everything into the 55. then yesterday I put fish in... 3 green damsels 2 clownfish 1 scopas tang and 1 half black angel...

I would be careful. One week is not much time for for a cycle, likely hasn't cycled much at all. It is possible that some of your fish may survive. I would venture to guess that those chromis may live through it; the ammonia spike will be tough on the others. If your other tank is cycled, and still operational, you may want to consider QT'ing the fish you want most to survive. I think that most difficult aspect of this hobby is waiting to get a tank up and running, followed closely by the diet it places on my wallet.

Tank has officially been running for 2 weeks. When can I expect this spike? Haven't taken out the fish yet, but I can switch them over to my other tank. No deaths yet... crossing fingers.

Are there any good aquarium places for saltwater in Rochester? I'm here in Syracuse and there's only a couple.

We have:
The reef shoppe
Caribbean forest
Abc aquariums- look at fb page
Salty dog shop inc.- look at fb page (canadaigua)
Pet world, 2 locations-one step above petco...

It take about a month or so to cycle the fish usually live right up to the spike then one morning you'll wake up and they'll all be pale and die off with in hours

Ty, just upgraded the lights again to 4 t5's and got a flat anemone a few days ago :) I'm an addict haha
