As it stands, I'm doing 'small' 10 gallon water changes to keep things in line. The algae has really pulled back, but still enough to where I'm not having to supplemental feed.
I'm continuing with these water changes as my mother came over the other day and was staring into my tank, talking about how great the powder brown is...who of course I notice has ich. Super. He's really active and eating so I'm simply monitoring. There isn't any aggression between him and the lawnmower blenny. So, just monitor and water changes. There isn't anything I can do outside of that anyway.

Is what it is. This heat wave won’t help much. Been pretty hot in my house with the ac broken.
The heat hasn’t changed much in the tank, though could be the issue with the tang.
The bigger issue will be the 3 hour power outage tomorrow that’ll be for the whole town. It’ll be hot and no circulation. Where the minnow pumps at?

Haven’t been posting much as I’ve been slowly working on getting things where I want them.
Yesterday made it out to my favorite lfs and picked up a red/white rock flower anemone for my want to move the sexy shrimp out of this container covered in calcium based algae.
Also got a little gold torch, a green stylopora, a green cup coral, a monti I’m u sure of I’d on, and four peppermint shrimp that are confirmed aiptasia consumers.
The bit problems are the aiptasia and this calcium based algae that is awful to keep scrubbed off.
Outside of those two topics and the new additions, things are going well. The lawnmower Benny, two emerald crabs, and large sea hare have been doing their job and have most likely met equilibrium.

Those Aiptasia seem to the devil in tanks. A SW lfs has them everywhere in most every tank and I would imagine they would get rid of them but think they have given up, didn't always look this overpopulated used to be just one here or there. I will not be buying anything from inside those tanks, since hearing of how hard it is to be rid of them.

Keep after them. Right now I am on a Asterina starfish removal drive to a SW planted jar. Everyday I see 2-3 more though in each of the nanos (Just prefer to not have them every where in the new tank)!

Things are pretty stable. I’m hitting dozens of aiptasia daily.
I added confirmed aiptasia consuming peppermint shrimp. Haven’t seen one of the four, assume they didn’t survive acclimation.
Added a red and white tentacles rock flower nem. The sexy shrimp stay kinda near it but also like the gold torch frag I also added.
I had a purple tang arrive yesterday. I’m not pleased. Showed up with hlle. Very noticeable and advanced. Emailed the company and see where we go from there.

Nice about the Sexy shrimp, I really enjoy them. I only have one atm, mine were a few years old and disappeared over the last few months. Have been looking for more locally and stores are always out. Will specifically ask for them to be ordered in, if I can ever get my 80G running and cycled, so for now I can wait.

Too bad about not getting a good Tang. What is wrong with it?

The peppermint shrimp seem to be great after they make it through the transition, but I also have had poor results in transitions of them before. After they make it they seem to live a pretty long life.

Things are going well. Purple has colored up and eating. Very active so I’m not worrying about it anymore. Appears healing.
Then there’s the aiptasia. Still hundreds. Hit many yesterday before work. Had a peppermint show up the other day, but not since, when I was stirring things up and cleaning. Hopefully munching on aiptasia I can’t see.

Sounds like you need a bigger specialist predator. Sounds like the few shrimp couldn't make a dent in the population. This is scary news -"hundreds". Making me more cautious (petrified) every time I hear this population (increase) news. Sounds terrible. Any of the stated/known bigger Aiptasia eaters work for your stocking, even short term for an operation: destruction?

Very glad to hear positive news for your cool fish. Very beautiful fish.

The predators most commonly known in the hobby are the cooperband butterfly, filefish, peppermint shrimp, and berghia nudibranch.
Cbb I’ve had before. It had no interest in them but thankfully had no interest in my corals.
Filefish are coral munchers as well.
Peppermints are in the system.
This leaves the nudibranch. Highly specialized feeders that will starve upon having no food source.
So, there is no easy answer. Ever. Lol

How many can a Nudibranch (or 3) eat in its lifetime I wonder, since it seems it would have food for a long time. Maybe be able to pass them onto a new person/Return them to the store for the next Aptaisia "stalked" stocked tank keeper.

If there were others around me of a lfs that stalked them I’d consider it. But they are also under an inch in size I think. Idk if I’d be able to keep track of them.
