Blue Ram eggs laid in the wrong place
ok, I have everything set up to start a GBR breeding operation....but now I have a problem. I did my water change today (50%, seems to induce spawning in the rams, and it did) And the eggs where laid. not on the normal piece of slate, or and of the otehr pieces, or even on the terra cotta pot, but on the gravel.
My options leave it be, maybe try and scoop out some fry if they ever make it to free swimming. Remove the puffer, put him in the 5gal, move the Beta into his old 1 gallon mini-home. See if parents can raise fry (Am already moving hte shrimp and otos out o fhte parents tank) or come up with some way to get the eggs out of a heavily planted tank... :/ (ideas welcome) thanks |

What I've found with the GBRs I've had spawn (on 4 different occasions) is that they will drop eggs anywhere they feel comfortable. You just have to hope they do it on something you can easily remove if you choose to go that route. You did the right thing, they just didn't cooperate. You could always try siphoning the eggs out with a piece of air line.

Yes, you should be able to syphon them out that way. I know for sure that it works for fry (I have done it by accident), but have never tried it with eggs.

Hey maxwell, Hows the blues coming along. Got piar ready to go for me. I could really use a new piar. LOL Anyway yes ml of HP 3% is just fine for a gallon of water. the main thing is that the water flow in your hatchery is strong enough to keep the fungi from ataching it's self to anything in the tank.
