Breeding The Bristlenose Pleco :)
Well I have just recently purchased three bristlenose pleco's. I have had them in the past and bred them but it was an accident so I am unawre of really how to do it and where they will spawn. One day I just had loads of fry on the tank sides lol. It was a great site
Currnet Tank condidtions: 33 US gals. Home to discus and rams. Tank is planted with three caves and some bogwood for them to knawl at for there digestive system. The wood is concave in the bottem of it so the way it is placed in the tank creates a cave from the bogwood which the male bristlenose has claimed his allready. Perfect breeding site I think All images below are of the female. I think it is a female because form the image you can see that she is very robust on her belly either fat or full of eggs lol. And her lip has a line of small bristles but no more on her head. Unlike the male!

Images below show my very very small and cute albino bristlenose.
The other image shows my large male (larger in length than the female) and has much more bristles, I know that the image is not very clear lol, but his bristles move up his head in a triangle. Starting from the lip.

Sorry, but you have regular brown bristlenose's. The white on the tip of the fin is a dead giveaway, including the color. Albino's are yellowish with red eyes.

I know I have one albino, I just wanted to know why only one of my regulars had the white on the end of the fin.

The white tip is quite normal. Congrats then, I thought you meant that you had added more albino's.

I would follow the advice given by BrianNY...he has been doing this for quite some time...although he breeds the albino variety. With BN's, the male always has the longest and fiercest bristle's, whereas the female has some to none. The white tip fin is not always an accurate indication.
Pics? The method that works for me so far has been to set the cam to the highest resolution, autofocus, macro mode. I use the flash for a lot of pics and when I do, I angle the lens away from the glass to prevent washing out and having the flash bouncing back at me. Then it's off to the photo editing shop. Digital has allowed me to take 1,000's of pics without the cost of developing. 99% of all the pics I've taken have gone in the trash.
