I have a 4 cherry barbs as part of my community tank. Two of them seemed to have paired up and have been doing the happy dance.....however, when he is coiled around her she releases eggs then they race around eating the eggs as the fall thought the water?! Normal? I'm not looking to breed them just curious. What is this all about then?

Unfortunately, it's normal. Barbs ( as well as many other egg laying fishes) typically eat their own eggs. If you want to breed them to really get fry, it's best done in a separate tank with ways for the eggs to be hidden from the parents. (y)
