FreshwaterTank 40 gallon

I have mated pair of German Blue Rams. They have produced two batches of eggs. First batch got eaten by snail over night. Second batch hatched and got to the free swimming stage (7days old). Then it seemed that they disappeared...all but six. I'm I to assume that the parents ate them? Should I have taken the parents out when they became free swimming? The fry were eating baby brine shrimp.
Thank you

Sometimes breeding cichlids, if they're new to it, take some time to develop their parental instincts. It's not uncommon to see them eat their eggs or fry. I'd say let them try again and see how they do. If they still eat their own, then I might remove the eggs and/ or young to a breeding tank.
