Fry on the rocks

I was getting ready to go to the drive-ins yesterday when I noticed that (FINALLY) Crystal (my molly) gave birth so I'm looking around for them all. Whoever told me to use a turkey baster to catch them is a good idea, if they weren't so quick and the turkey baster actually kept them in the tubing long enough for me to pull it out of the water...my other fish were having a feast with the ones that popped up from the rocks. I caught about 6 or 7 of them, I got back home, they were all dead (don't know about that one) I see some more in the rocks but I really have no place to put them until I clean out some other little bowls and stuff.. any chance some of them might live if I just leave them in there? ^^;

There is a good Chance. I couldnt catch alot of my fry so I left them, knowing I would have more but they actually survived ... well most of them did especially with things such as rocks etc ....

Nah, I wasn't probably as bummed out as you might think lol. I just got rid of 2 two month year old mollies to one of my friends. I still got 30 something to go....and if those babies lived....god I'd have way more than I need...Infact another brood died after that one gave birth, my silver females are my best females for breeding but they get BIG litters...

Get some plants for them to hid in. It will help protect them to some degree.

My livebearers were getting so productive that I finally went and bought one of those breeders to put the mother in so the frys can drop to the bottom, then they are seperated from the adult fish until they are big enough. They don't cost very much.

Oh I've done that, but she was too stressed out to give birth so I let nature take it's course. Don't get me wrong I have a whole bunch of plants in there and they all hid in the rocks but the ones that decided that they were going to go explore got picked off like nothing. I used the breeding cage for Jewel's litter, which is why I have 30 something 2 months old ones now.

Sounds funny, picked off. Tee Hee hee. Well. Eventually they will end up over producing if you let them I think. My guppies did. Who knew the babies wouldn't mostly get eaten. And wow, there is nothing really to do with all those fish. So in a way, you are lucky.
