GBR(Mikrogeophagus ramirezi) breeding help

Hey everyone I am interested in all help and info on breeding and German Blue rams any of you can offer!
I have been breeding them for just over a year or so and am still learning how to raise them today!
I have pairs in various breeding tanks from 5-29 g.
I also keep a 40b with aprox. 16-20 I call the dorm.
I have certainly had success, but do not achieve nearly 10% survival rate.
I can tell more about water, tanks fish lines(I mixed with 10 from yunite last fall) or anything you wonder.
I just want to do better in raising fry to juvi(week 1-3 being most important)
or to hear others say less then 10% is all good.
I have PLENTY of opportunity to try advice as I get 1-3 sets of free swimmers every week!

Let me have it,and have a good week end !
Thanks,
Tom

Honestly, I've only successfully raised a handful of GBR fry; definitely less than 10%. Are you leaving them in with the parents or taking them out? What's your water quality like?

Thanks for reply!
I have over 400g of tanks for pairs and fry!
I have NOT been able to have 1 pair raise any fry yet.
All fry are separated from adults within 1-7 days of free swimming.
I feed ;vinegar eels, microworms,BBS, and a special blend of micro fry foods(dry).
My water is RO remineralised to 3gh and 2kh.
Tanks are all kept in the 82-86 range.
Nitrates never over 10ppm usually around 5ppm
Fresh water is 30-50 TDS after I remineralise, all tanks are BB(bare bottom) and have wood, live plants(moss/hygo....).

Looking for suggestions!
I will never know if anyone is right or wrong unless I try some ones idea.
I have been messing this up for a year or so ,so don't be afraid!
Thanks Sini!

I think your water might actually be a little TOO soft. I would try to shoot for around 100TDS? KH 2-3, GH 5-6.

The only other thing I can think of is to add some moss to the fry tanks? The only success I've had raising GBR was without trying, when I had a tank full of some random moss I found in a local stream and it exploded.

Thanks!
With wood and whatever the actual tank usually run around 100-140 tds.
I can't say the TDS is anything more then a reference as "what" it reads is not known.
I have java moss in all tanks as it has always helped with any fish I have bred.
Higher GH huh?
I can make my water any way I want.

I just chased down papa(like you sini) to help me.
I wanted to ask Andy how many fry he keeps in each tank and how often he seperates them, but will have to wait till he comes back from vacation.
I'm blown away when I read yunite breeds in ph7.8!
If I use my tap(or even 50/50 mix) none of my eggs even get fertalised!
My tap is 7.6/gh12/kh3
I prep all water for all of my tanks by treating I tap with SAFE(dry prime) and powerhead/heat for 24 hours at least.
The ro gets remineralised and also adjust for 24 hours.

They are what I offer.
I have and have used slates.
They may lay eggs in corner of some tanks?

Are you looking for 100% natural raised percentages.

So are you looking to raise naturally or artificially or does it matter?

I would prefer artificial.
My rams will get the eggs all the way to free swimming and some allow the free swimmers for up to 7 days.
All I have raised were done by removing the fry from parents or vice versa.
