Goldfish spawning question
One of my fantail goldfish looks to be carrying eggs. I checked my goldfish book, but it's very basic and says goldfish usually spawn after the water warms up, which doesn't apply here. I have no idea what gender the other two goldfish are, but I don't see the tubercles males are supposed to have in spawning season. Is there any chance the spawning will actually occur or has my little goldfish got her timing all wrong? The tank is an unheated 20 gallon with 2 fantails, a black moor, a mystery snail and a few ghost shrimp. No ornaments because the tank grows brown algae like nobody's business, so nowhere for eggs to "stick."
