Has anyone spawned fishes in outside tubs?

I was thinking about using some tubs I have laying around for plant and shrimp propagation and wondered if it was possible to keep and spawn other varieties of fish like rams, tetras, barbs etc. I live in bama and it gets hot here! Has anyone else done or thought of doing this?
