20170528_152951.jpgHello:)
I'm new to the fish community!
My tetra got pregnant and now I'm waiting for her to lay eggs. I heard that it's dangerous for the eggs to be laid in the aquarium so I went to get a little compartment to be put into the aquarium for her to lay eggs and for the baby fishes to live in as well. it has 2 compartments, which the middle part is removable, so once she laid eggs it will go down the chute and I'll bring in the male fishes to fertilize them. Is this an okay method?

And may I ask if anyone knows how do I know when she is going to lay eggs?

What kind of Tetras do you have?

Are you purposefully trying to raise baby fish?

Are you prepared for feeding them if they actually get to the hatching stage?

This is an ambitious project which may need more study.

The better way to have this work is to let the fish spawn and lay eggs and then remove the parents. But it could also depend on what kind of fish you have. Some like to lay eggs on plant leaves, and some like to lay eggs in a yarn spawning mop, which an be removed into a fry tank.

The female gets plump with eggs and then lays eggs and the male fish will fertilize them.

The tank should be a very mature system. Without fluctuations in water parameters.
