Looks like she has a ways to go unless this is her frst drop. Typically platys will get a squared front chest when the time is near. You will know it when you see it.

If you don't want the fry to be lunch, you likely need to move them. You can use breeding traps, but that tend to stunt the fry. I'd use a 10gal or a 5gal bucket if that is what you got. I always have 6-8 buckets that are cycled with sponge filters for just such an occasion. If you use a bucket without cycling it, use a cheap air driven corner filter and load it with good carbon. Do 50% water changes evry two days using air line tube as a siphon. They should be large enough to go back with mom in two-three weeks.

When platys are ready, they will generally IMO hide in corners or next to plants or by the heater
 
I've noticed she tends to hide now and would it be ok to use a breeder tank?
