I have 5 platys with some very new fry (less than one week old) and I've hatched brine shrimp to feed them. I'm using an upside down 2L bottle DIY hatchery. Seems to work well.

My question is how much shrimp should I add to the tank when I feed the fish. Even a small amount drained out of the hatchery (and filtered and washed) seems to fill the tank with a huge cloud of shrimp. Should I just feed a small amount? It seems like it would waste a lot of shrimp because I hear they must be fed to the fish when they are freshly hatched.

You do not need to feed live bearer fry brine shrimp, though most all fish like them. Just take a pinch of flake food and pulverize it and feed. I do this with millies, platys and swords. If you feed the shrimp, just give them a very small amount at a time.
