Limons or electric yellows

Hi I have a question I got 2 lemons from a buddy of mine and the female was carrying fry. Some how during the first month I had them the female died and one of the baby fry lived. Now he or she is getting about an inch and a half long. First any way other than looking at their anus to tell if he or she is male or female and if it is a female would it be bad if they bread.
